May 4, 1850 I woke up today and found myself perception very homesick. I miss the smell of the air afterward waking in the morning; you know that first deep inhale you back out after opening your eyes? I miss that. The air here in New York is well-grounded and foul. When I try to inhale deep, I instantly stick choking. Its mornings like this that make me think back to those age before coming to America and the ride trip here. Its been five years now since we left home, but I can still recall every aspect of the boat trip, arriving in New York, and all of the roadblocks along the way to attain to where we are today.
