He narrates the difficulties growing up in gangs, and being accepted, and the importance of family. by and by getting into trouble with the police, Ponyboy starts to realise he is dissimilar from gang, and enjoys different things same(p), poetry and reading and sunsets. Being stuck in the life of a greaser, and having his only family that way, Ponyboy takes the fact that he will be a greaser forever, that view starts to change later on.
